Only words can describe these last few days.
Felt my place in the world for the first time in a long time. Found my niche - my habitat. All those years, and all the skills acquired, culminated to this place and this time. What I have been waiting for and know what is true in my heart.
Taught seventy 2nd graders (yes, 70) how to observe nature - and taught myself too, through the eyes of innocence. Saw the power of words with several children, and much more - seeing several lay in the grass, sprawled out watching a flower or a bug.
Surprising how some children that I didn't even personally interact with sought me out to share with me something pinnacle they had just experienced. Something so exciting they illuminated a knowledge that can only be experienced through connecting with something other than self.
What I am aware of and fully understanding are two things:
One - Our relationship with each other and how we interact with kindness and respect of diversity is paramount in this day and age - in this new era, the connection is exponential.
Two - Our relationship with the natural world is irreplaceable! My motto of nature, and I share with children, "We didn't make! So we can't replace it!" - It's not something we can manufacture.
Story telling class... "If I Were A Tree This Is What I'd Be..." a poem I wrote. A brief class about storytelling and how everything has a story.
Up before the birds. Traveled to Rough and Ready Creek for botany and birds for my Naturalist Certificate. Wheww! what a day. Too much rough... could of used more creek. It was 85 degrees by 11:30 am. Got really clear what I like and what I won't be doing again. The wildflowers were gorgeous! Delicate, vibrant, and all kinds of shapes. The wonderful part is that the soil is ultramafic, which means the flower has to adapted to the heavy metal content of the soil... with grace and beauty!
Something learned from flowers.
Overall, a learning weekend of nature, nurture, and adventure.
